INTERN OPPORTUNITIES

SafePath accepts interns to participate in a mutually beneficial relationship in which the intern gains knowledge and experience in the field while the children of Cobb County benefit from their service. 

Graduate Clinical Internships

SafePath’s Clinical Department accepts graduate interns pursuing careers in the mental health field to participate in a mutually beneficial relationship in which the intern gains knowledge and experience in the field while the children of Cobb County benefit from their service.  Graduate clinical interns are able to provide individual and group therapy to children and their family members while receiving clinical supervision, training in the dynamics of abuse and trauma, and training in trauma-focused therapy.  Graduate clinical interns are also exposed to a multi-disciplinary team approach in the delivery of services to victims and families.  Requirements for acceptance include:

  • Registered in a graduate level internship in counseling, social work, or psychology
  • Complete SafePath Volunteer application
  • Provide graduate school and work references
  • Complete and pass a criminal background check
  • Complete and pass a drug screen
  • Be registered in or have completed a graduate level play therapy course
  • Interns serve a minimum of nine (9) months for academic credit
  • Perspective interns should allow 6 to 8 weeks for completion of the application process (background check, drug screen, references, etc.).

Undergraduate Internships

SafePath’s accepts undergraduate interns pursuing careers in the social services field to participate in a mutually beneficial relationship in which the intern gains knowledge and experience while the children of Cobb County benefit from their service.  Undergraduate interns are provided with training in the dynamics of abuse and trauma, case management, and an opportunity to interact with children and families. Undergraduate interns are also exposed to a multi-disciplinary team approach in the delivery of services to victims and families.  Requirements for acceptance include:

  • Registered in an undergraduate level internship in human services or psychology
  • Complete SafePath Volunteer application
  • Provide school and work references
  • Complete and pass a criminal background check
  • Complete and pass a drug screen

Perspective interns should allow 6 to 8 weeks for completion of the application process (background check, drug screen, references, etc.).
