Jennifer has been a pediatric nurse since 1996 working at the Children’s Medical Center in Dallas, TX. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1998 at the University of Texas at Arlington in Arlington, TX. She went on to obtain her Master of Science in Nursing with Pediatric nurse practitioner focus in 2000 from the University of Texas at Arlington in Arlington, TX. Jennifer completed her national certification from the Pediatric Nurses Certification Board as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner – Primary Care in 2001. Jennifer worked primary care in pediatric from 2001 to 2015. She also taught pediatrics at a private pre-licensure nursing school in Florida from 2011 to 2013. In late 2015 Jennifer began working for Wellstar Medical Center as a child maltreatment specialty. She completed specialized training through the Midwest Region Children’s Advocacy Center’s online training for medical providers, as well as the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner – Pediatric/Adolescent training through the Georgia Network to End Sexual Assault. Jennifer completed the national certification examination with the International Association of Forensic Nurses successfully in summer 2017. She is now one of seventeen certified sexual assault nurse examiners in the state of Georgia. Jennifer completed her Doctor of Philosophy with a focus in Nursing Science in 2017.
Wellstar provides the staff (Jennifer) for medical examinations to all referred children who have disclosed or there is a suspicion of child maltreatment. Jennifer also provides expert testimony for the cases in which she has provided examinations. Services offered include the examination, colposcopy, photo-documentation, laboratory tests, and referrals to needed specialties.
